About Us
Eta Sigma Phi is the national Classics honor society for undergraduate students. Here at Tufts the Iota Pi chapter sponsors events for Classics Majors, public lectures on Classical subjects, and various social and educational events for members of the Tufts community who are interested in Greece, Rome, and the ancient world.
On a national level the organization sponsors students for study abroad programs, hosts a convention for Classics undergraduates, and promotes interest in the study of Classical languages. The national organization was founded in 1914 and our chapter was founded in 2014.
Membership
Students are eligible for membership if they have completed two semesters of either Greek or Latin with honors (B+ or higher) grades. Members are also expected to maintain these grades as they continue their studies. New members are initiated twice a year at a ceremony put on by the current membership. Meetings for members are held once a week in Eaton Hall.
