Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB)
Faculty Advisor: Theo Klimstra
DEIB Description/Mission Statement
The Eliot-Pearson Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EP-DEIB) is an undergraduate and graduate student initiative whose mission is to support E-P’s transformation towards racial equity and greater inclusivity through leadership, coordination, and accountability. Our mission is to bring long-overdue, necessary, and sustainable changes to move the department from one that, at best, subtly advocates for equity and inclusion, to one whose day-to day activities center social justice, racial equity, and belonging among all community members. We intend to hold the department, and ourselves, accountable to fighting inequality and anti-Black racism, by ensuring respect, dignity, and opportunities for continued learning and re-learning.
